Sundays

in Gothenburg International Baptist Church

  • ”Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God” (Colossians 3:16)

Services

You are most welcome to join us for our Sunday service. Each Sunday we get together to, with God’s glory in focus from the Bible, Sing, pray and listen to a sermon. The actual meeting normally lasts for 1,5 hours and after that we eat a meal together.

Sermon

The sermon has a key role in our services because we are convinced that the Bible is the Word of God. When we get together to listen to  God’s Word we do this with the expectation and prayer that the holy Spirit will do his life transforming work.

The preaching is expositional and Christ centered where the aim is to preach through the whole Bible, book by book where the main point of the passage being preached also would be the main point in the sermon. A sermon normally lasts for 30-40 min.

Prayer & singing

In our services normally the songs and prayers are reflecting the theme of the passage being preached. The climax becomes when we respond to what we’ve heard in worship of our great God and Savior.

The songs that we are singing are filled with biblical truths regardless of whether they are old or new.

The Explorers

At the time of the sermon there’s a gathering for children aged 4-12 where they can explore the message of the Bible in a playful way.

Translation

Each service is being translated into English and often into Spanish. When there’s a need we also translate the service into several other languages.

Meal

After every service we eat a simple meal and have fellowship. A few times a year, for example around Christmas and Easter, we have an international potluck where we enjoy food from all the corners of the world.

Summer services

In the summer we usually have shorter evangelistic outdoor services followed by a time of barbeque.
